Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) (Greece)
The Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) is the largest economics research institute in Greece. It focuses on applied research projects regarding the Greek economy, and provides technical advice to the Greek government and the country’s regional authorities on economic and social policy issues, among others in agriculture. It is governed by a board of directors appointed by the Minister for Development and Investments and the research staff concentrates on four areas of empirical research: (a) Macroeconomic analysis and projections, (b) Fiscal and monetary policy, (c) Human resources and social policies, and (d ) Sectoral analyses and policies. The Centre’s research output consists primarily of its publications. These are currently organised under the following series: a) Studies, i.e., monographs which investigate specific economic issues through the application of modern analytical methods., b) Reports, i.e., works which analyse in a systematic manner sectoral, regional, or national economic issues., c) Discussion Papers, i.e., papers on ongoing research projects., d) Research collaborations, i.e, research projects prepared in cooperation with other research institutes., e) Both a monthly and a four-monthly review, entitled Greek Economy and Greek Economic Outlook, respectively. Apart from the above publications, KEPE has been very active in the production of unpublished studies, reports and position papers assigned by ministries or other bodies, aimed at supporting economic policy decisions. KEPE runs a specialised research library, with a rich collection of Greek and international books and journals in economics and social sciences at large. In addition, KEPE is in contact with similar foreign institutions, and exchanges publications, views and information on current economic developments and research methods.
So.svi.ma S.p.A (SOVIMA) (Italy)
SOVIMA is a local development agency with mission and objectives such as:
· Carry out studies and research on the territorial, structural, infrastructural and socio-economic situations of the Sicilian reality
· Carry out study, research, feasibility, design, management of technical assistance for the integrated use of water and wastewater, for soil protection, for the disposal of solid waste, as well as to activate technical assistance services for the pollution monitoring, for advanced water research for applied meteorological climate;
· Carry out study, research, feasibility, design, production in the energy field of alternative sources and their management,
· Take care of the training of operators for the management of water supply systems, supply and disposal, purification and reuse of wastewater, as well as the elimination and conversion of solid civil and industrial and agricultural waste;
· Carry out research, surveys, studies on the problems of public and private management training, with particular reference to Sicily;
· Promote the exchange of professional resources with other qualified Italian and foreign centers;
· Stimulate, through scholarships, research contracts and agreements, the development and implementation of specific managerial or entrepreneurial innovation projects to be implemented in the Sicilian reality; etc.
Institute of Citizen’s Sustainable Development and Health (I.Ci.S.De) (Greece)
The Institute of Citizen’s Sustainable Development and Health (I.Ci.S.DE) was established in 2011 in Piraeus, Greece. It constitute a non-profit organization where its main aims and objectives are to contribute to the welfare of human society through the provision of sustainable services towards multiple audiences (regional authorities, local citizens, people that belong to vulnerable target groups, entrepreneurs etc. In order to achieve that, ICISDE is activated in a number of fields that deal with environmental protection, activities related to the field of economics at the local, national and European level, promotion of the region and regional products and health activities. Apart from that, ICISDE also conducts research on multiple target groups and sectors including immigrants, persons with disabilities, regional development, e-health and medical services.
In general, ICISDE prepares and implements projects related to human resources management and training, tourism and catering services – in hotel, public health, entrepreneurship, information technology, environmental protection, regional development, research. However, through the past years ICISDE is oriented in overtaking activities that contribute significantly in social inclusion of vulnerable groups of people such as people with disabilities (deaf, people with hearing impairments, blind and people with visual problems), people over 50 years old that lack of education etc. by developing methodologies and training programs that widen their perspectives for improving their everyday life and providing opportunities for professional rehabilitation.
CARDET (Cyprus)
CARDET is the leading research and development centre in the Mediterranean region with global expertise in education, digital skills, and capacity building. As the largest independent non-profit centre based in Cyprus, CARDET is independently affiliated with universities and institutions from around the world, such as the Yale University, the University of Nicosia and the International Council of Educational Media. CARDET has completed more than 300 projects relating to innovation, entrepreneurship, VET, Virtual reality, e-learning, new technologies, digital skills, education and upskilling pathways.
BALKAN INSTITUTE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP (BALKIEN) (Greece)
BALKAN INSTITUTE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP (Balkien) is a public benefit, non-profit, legal entity governed by private Law. It was founded in 2016, with seat in Kalamata, Greece. Its aims is to:
· Conduct research and data analysis on the main issues related to the economic development of the Balkan countries and the relations between them;
· Foster innovation and entrepreneurship through the collaboration of various bodies (municipalities, state-run and public organisations, private organisations, educational institutes, clusters, cooperatives) to educate, train and support interested parties – especially young people in all levels of educations – with the aim of promoting their professional development;
· Develop social economy and foster collaboration between Balkan countries on these issues;
· Promote cooperation, as well as exchange of knowledge and experience between the Higher Education Establishments of the Balkan countries.
· Initiate and keep enriching public discussion and dialogue, in regular intervals, using feedback, between business, and academic and political circles of the Balkans with the aim of promoting and disseminating information to the public, on contemporary economic issues related to development, innovation and entrepreneurship in the territory of the Balkans
· Organise seminars with invited international experts and contribute to non formal education of less privileged people
